Serial production of the WOP-30LS access point with integrated sector antenna
28 December 2023 Serial production and sales of the WOP-30LS access point with Wi-Fi 6 support and an integrated sector antenna have started. It is designed to organize a high-performance Wi-Fi network in conditions of heavy load and complex electromagnetic environment.
- in crowded places – stadiums, parks, shopping malls, etc.;
- industrial and warehouse premises with a large number of metal structures that impair signal propagation;
- rooms with a complex layout, where it is necessary to provide a reliable Wi-Fi signal in certain areas;
- along linear objects – roads, pipelines, power lines.
The main feature of the WOP-30LS is a built-in sector antenna with a directional angle of 55 × 40° (H/V). This makes it possible to narrow the coverage area and, in case of proper installation, minimize interference from neighboring access points at high density, reduce the number of potential customers per point and thereby increase the bandwidth for each of them.
It is possible to organize the coverage area optimally according to the client devices location. For example, in industrial premises, an access point can be installed in such a way as to serve a certain area, for example, a production line.
High-speed Wi-Fi 6 connection
The WOP-30LS supports the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard. This ensures high performance and reliability of the wireless network in difficult operating conditions and with high connection density.
The supported MU-MIMO 2×2 and OFDMA technologies increase the number of connections and reduce delays. The use of 1024QAM modulation provides a significant performance boost compared to Wi-Fi 5 access points due to more efficient bandwidth use.
The WOP-30LS access point enables simultaneous use of the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, providing together wireless connection speed of up to 1.7 Gbps. This is enough for simultaneous connection and comfortable operation of 50 connected devices.
Also, WPA2/WPA3 Personal and Enterprise encryptions are supported. You can connect to the access point network via Captive Portal authorization and Radius server.
Case and interfaces
The access point case is made of durable plastic and is designed to operate at very low and high temperatures – from -45 to +65 ℃. IP65 rated enclosure makes the access point water- and dustproof. The device can be mounted on a light pole or wall, all necessary fasteners for installation are included.
WOP-30LS supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology. The case has an RJ-45 port that supports cable connection up to 2.5 Gbps.
Roaming
Access points can be united into a single wireless network to cover a vast area by supporting seamless roaming (IEEE 802.11r/k/v). Thanks to this, one can move between coverage zones without losing connection and having to log in again.
Seamless roaming is an excellent solution in crowded areas where the cellular network is often overloaded and does not work well. For example, during outdoor events, such as city celebrations in squares and parks.
Management capabilities
WOP-30LS is managed and configured using the WEB interface, command line, Telnet, SSH and NETCONF.
With a large number of access points organizing the network, it is more convenient to use specialized controllers that enable you to centrally manage them from a single interface. Eltex product line includes a SoftWLC software controller and a hardware controllers’ family:
- WLC-15 for creating small networks with support for connecting up to 50 access points;
- WLC-30 for larger networks with support for up to 150 access points.
