The MES multi-gigabit switch series has been expanded with a 24-port model with PoE+ support

MES2420D-24DP mass production
High throughput capacity is a necessary requirement for modern networks. It has emerged also due to the rise of Wi-Fi 6 and the upcoming wave of Wi-Fi 7. We have previously covered multi-gigabit solutions that help companies to upgrade their infrastructure to meet growing demands. Today we are pleased to announce the start of MES2420D-24DP mass production. The new access switch is designed for use in large corporate structures.
Performance and interfaces
MES2420D-24DP has 24 × 2.5 Gbps downlink ports with PoE+ (802.3at) support and 4 × 10 Gbps SFP+ uplink ports. The total throughput capacity reaches 200 Gbps.
Due to the Cat 5e compatibility, the device does not require additional costs for replacing the cabling infrastructure.
MAC table capacity is 32,768 entries. This makes MES2420D-24DP suitable for use in large high-density networks.
Reliability and fault tolerance
The switch supports stacking of up to 8 units, allowing multiple physical devices to be stacked into a single logical unit and managed cantrally.
To ensure uninterrupted operation, a redundancy of power supplies is implemented. In case of failure of one of the units, the system automatically switches to the backup unit. In case of power supply source change, the system promptly informs of it.
The switch supports PoE+ technology with a total budget of 720W, which allows powering all 24 ports at the same time with up to 30W per port.
Advanced networking features
MES2420D-24DP features an extended set of network functions. The most significant are:
- Dynamic distribution of VLANs between switches using the GVRP protocol, which simplifies configuration and management of network segmentation;
- Voice VLAN to carry voice traffic;
- Q-in-Q technology that allows adding a second tag to extend the possible number of virtual networks beyond the 4094 limit;
- Support for the entire xSTP protocol family, including RSTP, MSTP and RPVST+, which increases fault tolerance and reduces network failure recovery time.
Management, monitoring and security
Configuration and management can be performed both via console port and network connection. The device is equipped with a complete administration set: CLI, Web-interface, SNMP, Syslog. Integration with the ECCM configuration management system is also supported.
To protect the network, mechanisms of user authentication and authorization according to IEEE 802.1X standard using RADIUS server are implemented. The switch supports advanced security features, including:
- IP Source Guard, which prevents IP spoofing attacks;
- Dynamic ARP Inspection, which inspects ARP packets and protects the network from spoofing;
- Guest VLAN, which is used to provide limited access for guests.
