A step towards Wi-Fi network security: WLC-30 now supports WIDS logging

We continue to improve the Eltex line of wireless controllers. In the new software version of WLC-30, WIDS support has been implemented. This is an important addition to the network security features – administrators now gain centralized configuration capabilities and access to events related to threats in the radio environment.

WIDS is designed to detect unauthorized access attempts and malicious activity. Administrators receive information about all potential attacks targeting the wireless infrastructure.

The current release includes the following features:

• detection of DoS and brute-force attacks;
• identification of SSID or MAC spoofing access points;
• automatic disconnection of clients from rogue access points;
• transmission of information on management system intrusion attempts.

The new WIDS logging feature provides administrators with detailed information about detected threats and attacks in the wireless network. This solution is especially relevant for organizations with high security requirements – government entities, large enterprises, financial and healthcare institutions.

We are already working on expanding the functionality: by the end of 2025, centralized WIDS configuration on access points via web interface will be added (configuration via CLI is available starting from version 1.30.0), along with sending events via SNMP.

In addition, we previously introduced an updated version of the ECCM network equipment management system with enhanced support for WLC controllers. The new capabilities enable centralized Wi-Fi infrastructure management and fast response to events detected by WIDS.
