MES5400-24, MES5400-48, MES5410-48, MES5500-32 – new Eltex switches with EVPN/VXLAN support

The Internet and related services have become so integrated into a person's life that they play a decisive role in their leisure and work. For example, many people cannot imagine life without correspondence in social networks and messengers, watching movies online. At the same time, a business with a tendency to continuous expansion cannot fulfill its tasks and develop without use of global and private networks, cloud solutions and dedicated servers.

 All of this directly depends on how effective the interaction with the outside world takes place through network communication channels. It is also important to what extent the network infrastructure is able to expand. Growing demand for network services from consumers and businesses forces telecommunication operators and data center owners to modernize existing solutions and increase requirements for network equipment to meet increasing loads. Responding to the demand, Eltex announces four high–performance switches models — MES5400-24, MES5400-48, MES5410-48, and MES5500-32.

Pre-production of MES5400-24 and MES5400-48 is planned for the second quarter of 2022. The models will have 24 and 48 ports of 1 Gbit/s (SFP) / 10 Gbit/s (SFP+). Bandwidth of the 24- and 48-port models is 1.68 and 2.16 Tbit/s, respectively.

MES5410-48 and MES5500-32 switches are under development. MES5410-48 will be equipped with 48 ports with speed up to 25 Gbit/s (SFP28), which will provide a total bandwidth of up to 3.6 Tbit/s. MES5500-32 is the Eltex flagship, which will have 32 ports of 40 Gbit/s (QSFP+) / 100 Gbit/s (QSFP28) with a total bandwidth of 6.4 Tbit/s.

MES5400-24, MES5400-48 and MES5410-48 models will also be equipped with 6 performative 40 Gbit/s (QSFP+)/100 Gbit/s (QSFP28) ports.

Architecture of MES5400-24, MES5400-48, MES5410-48 and MES5500-32 will allow lossless processing of packets with a length of 128 bytes. The switches will be equipped with replaceable AC and DC power supplies. Front-to-Back cooling will help to achieve effective cooldown of the devices. Possibility of hot-swapping power supplies and fans will increase fault tolerance of the systems during malfunctions of power supply and cooling system. It is possible to stack switches up to 8 devices.

MES5400-24, MES5400-48, MES5410-48 and MES5500-32 are L3 switches. Both static and dynamic routing (OSPFv2, OSPFv3, RIP, IS-IS, BGP) will be implemented on these switches.

The main innovation in MES5400-24, MES5400-48, MES5410-48 and MES5500-32 switches is implementation of EVPN/VXLAN technology. It allows you to create overlay networks (L2VPN/L3VPN services) on top of the carrier physical L3 network for isolated transmission of user traffic. At the same time, it is possible to flexibly scale and combine user networks with each other, regardless of how geographically remote they are.

The ECCM software developed by Eltex will allow you to easily manage MES5400-24, MES5400-48, MES5410-48, MES5500-32 switches, monitor their operation, quickly respond to emerging problems, configure user networks using EVPN/VXLAN. The software is constantly being improved – new functions are being added and the list of supported devices is expanding.

MES5400-24, MES5400-48, MES5410-48 and MES5500-32 are new Eltex switches, which will provide customers with up-to-date capabilities for the formation and maintenance of high load networks to improve the quality of customer services. The switches are most suitable for operating in carrier networks, data centers, and for deploying productive secure networking at large enterprises. EVPN/VXLAN support is implemented on all presented switches, which will optimize data center performance, as well as make client virtual networks more efficient and secure, reliable and holistic.
