ELTEX participates in the global modernization of Russian Post's data network
15 February 2022 As a part of this project, company developed, manufactured and delivered 8,500 modern gateways to the branches of state postal network operator. ELTEX solution enabled a seamless transition from foreign telecommunications equipment to Russian one, thus increasing the share of Russian equipment on the domestic market.Russian Post offices needed equipment that would improve resilience and availability of its network across the country.
Russian Post representatives set a task to create gateways, which: have possibility to connect IP telephony terminal equipment, have software for centralized monitoring and configuration management, support modern dynamic routing protocols as well as IP channels quality monitoring (SLA) functions.
Fulfilling these requirements, ELTEX developed ESR-12V gateway with integrated telephony services:
- designed to connect small and medium offices;
- built-in FXS ports allow installing up to three analogue telephones and connecting them to tel-ecommunications network without using separate telephone gateways;
- FXO port makes it possible to reserve telephone connection via an analogue line in case there is no connection on the central PBX.
For gateways managing ELTEX developed ECCM system which is a software system allowing user:
- to monitor the status of network equipment in real time;
- to display faults of devices online in text and graphic forms;
- to restore network operability after replacing faulty equipment;
- to automatically download updates.
As for today, the modernization of the network has not yet been completed. 8,500 pieces of equipment have been shipped to post offices in Russian regions and half of them has been connected to the ECCM control system in the test mode.
"Our partners from ELTEX did a great job: not only did they help us to make a seamless transition to Russian designed and manufactured gateways, but they also trained our employees. They also improved firmware in the process of testing, adding new features which we needed", said Vadim Gavrilenkov, Head of IT Infrastructure and Technology Platforms of Russian Post.
Given the successful experience of cooperation and solution of the task, the second stage of the project – to deliver more than 8, 000 ESR gateways – is planned to be implemented in 2022.
